The Spanish has signed a three-year contract at Goodison Park, taking over the team after Carlos Anceplott's surprise departure at the beginning of the month.
The decision has been under many surveillance from the Blues base since 61-year-old appeared for the first time as the first runner for the free country at Goodison Park.
The club's official statement confirmed that a search of “enabled” to replace the Anceplott at the helm with many candidates interviewed for his position, Periscopi broadcasts.
But Benitez was the chosen man and his first words as manager describe how impressed he was with the ambition shown by Blues throughout the process.
The Spaniard said: “I am glad to be joining Everton.
I have been deeply impressed by the ambition shown by club representatives and their desire to succeed this historic club.
I am determined to play a big role to help this great team achieve its ambitions. ”
Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright added: “Rafa Benitez will join the Everton Football Club at an exciting time.
Benitez was in management with “Dalian Professional” before leaving the Chinese Superleague Club earlier this year.
