A police officer has been convicted of the murder of former professional football player Dalian Atkinson after firing electrical weapons for 33 seconds and struck him twice in the head while lying on the ground.
Benjamin Monkey, of the West Mercia Force, was convicted of murder by a jury at the Burmingham crown court.
Monkey was accused of lying in court of his account and of kicking and kicking at Atkinson's head while he was barely aware of the ground. He is the first police officer convicted of murder during carrying out duties in more than three decades.
Atkinson was hit with great force, and his blood was found in the tie of police boots, broadcast Periscope.
The jury reached its rulings on Monkey after 18 hours and 48 minutes of discussion. They first acquitted him of murder, but then unanimously sentenced him to murder.
They are continuing to consider their decisions on his co-accused, PC Mary Ellen Bettley-Smith, who denies allegations of bodily harm while he was on the ground.
Details of the illegal violence the jury found that Monk had been using in court almost five years after Atkinson's death.
