The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has reacted to Valdete Daka's dismissal from the position of CEC chairman, from the country's president Vjosa Osmani.
The LDK says the decision has been met with great concern, while citing general estimates, in which Daka is said to have exercised office independently and professionally.
The decision, moreover, risks the independence and prosperity of local elections”, is said to be among other things in their response, the Express broadcast.
Also, the ruling in question has also been called a blow to the country's freedom and democracy.
LDK's full reaction:
The LDK with great concern has been awaiting today's decision by Kosovo President for arbitration of the mandate of Central Election Commission Chief Commissioner Mrs. Valdete Daka, who, according to general estimates, has exercised this task independently and professionally.
The Democratic League of Kosovo, the decision to alter the mandate of the CEC leader, on the eve of local elections, considers him unequivocal and unstable. The CEC's work has been assessed positively by all local and international institutions. Hence, today's decision is viewed as a serious blow to an independent constitutional institution with good performance.
The decision, furthermore, risks the independence and prosperity of local elections, on which Kosovo is on the verge. The CEC, in this period of preparation, has needed institutional stability. This stability has been violated.
Therefore, as such, today's decision on the Democratic League of Kosovo is unacceptable and a blow to freedom and democracy in our country.
