Kurti Sıiu has returned to Albanians in the Valley if he wants to discuss them with Vucinqi.

Albanian MP in Serbia's Parliament, Shaip Kamberi, has yet to receive answers from Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, if the issue of the Presevo Valley is to be put on the table for discussion during meeting with Serbia's president, Alexnadar Vuciq. Before he came to power, Kurti said that resolving the issue of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanoc is far greater than just a matter of security.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti will meet with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq. But an important topic is not known whether the head of the Government of Kosovo will lay on what he calls the new “section of the dialogue”.

If the Presevo Valley issue is presented at the negotiating table, they are very interested in knowing Albanians in Serbia. They had been looking and still waiting for Prime Minister Kurti to discuss the Valley as well at the Vucinciqi meeting. Albanian MP in Serbia's Parliament, Shaip Kamberi, has reaffirmed the need for the Presevo Valley issue to be part of the discussion in dialogue and also part of the final agreement intended to be reached.

Shaip Kamberi told Gazeta Express on Thursday that he met Albin Kurti before he took office as head of government in Kosovo. Kamberi added that Kurti has announced the situation there and the need for the Presevo Valley theme to be discussed with priority in meetings with the Serb side.

I've had meetings with Mr. Kurti before taking office of prime minister. Not yet, but, Mr. Kurti is aware of the situation in the Presevo Valley and the position of Albanians, so we also expect the need to include the Valley subject and the rights of Albanians in dialogue with Serbia to have it in its priorities”, Kamberi said.

Asked whether Kurt had assured that this would be discussed, Kamberi said: “we don't have any return information”.

Albanian officials in the Presevo Valley also expect Kosovo prime minister to include them in dialogue with Serbia, which has explained to Kurti that US and EU representatives have no alternative.

On this issue, Express has also asked Kosovo Government, which, as usual, has not responded.

When Kurt sought a solution to the Valley case

In the summer of 2019, several months before he came to power for the first time, Albin Kurti, then MP, alarmed the country that Albanians were losing social rights in Serbia.

“Solving the issue of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanoc is not just a matter of security. It primarily presents individual and collective rights issues of Albanians”, Kurti said.

He proposed taking some immediate measures for these Albanian majority municipalities in Serbia.

We can sort many steps and actions that we can take for Albanians there, but I would have summed up the four majors. Institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as those of Albania, should require public television in Albanian in Presevo, Albanian-language university in Bujanoc, Albanian investments in Medvedja and the removal of Serbia's military base in Borovc, Bujanoc. With those demands, Albanians wherever they are appear in offensive towards the state of Serbia, which has neither regretted crimes from the past nor changed its intentions and plans for the future, Kurti said.

Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac include the most underdeveloped and smaller revenues in Serbia

Recently, Prime Minister Kurti has said he is carefully conveying the situation of equipment for the Albanian addresses in the Presevo Valley.

“This campaign against Albanian residents of the Presevo Valley is unacceptable and must cease as soon as possible”, Kurti was quoted as saying during a meeting with the head of the Albanian National Council in Serbia, Ragmi Mustafa.

According to a prime minister's office report, the question of the failure to observe the addresses of Albanian residents of majority Albanian municipalities has specifically intensified in Medvedja.
