Keeping liturgy at church in the Court of Up comes reaction from Government Kurti

Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Hajrullah Ceku has spoken of maintaining liturgy by the Serbian Orthodox Church in the church built in the Pristina University courtyard. Ceku has said Kosovo police have not been notified of this activity and have said the Government will no longer allow [...] activities.

“During today we have been notified of an activity of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo, developed in the unfinished structure, which was built on Pristina University property at the time of the Serbian depressive regime on Kosovo. Kosovo police have not been informed in advance of maintaining this activity, and this constitutes violation of public safety regulations in Kosovo”, he has said at a Facebook status.

He says the property in which that church was built is under trial, so he named today's activity as “pression” on the court.

“Prona where the unfinished structure is currently set up is in conflict procedure and where the plaintiff is the University of Pristina “For this reason, neither side that is part of the judicial procedure dare put pressure on the courts. We call on such situations not to repeat and the parties of interest in this judicial case to refrain from exercising direct or indirect pressure on justice institutions”, the minister has added.

In addition, he says freedom of religious fragility is guaranteed with the Constitution of Kosovo and that freedom cannot be affected because a high price has been paid for this current freedom.

“Freedom of religious activity is guaranteed with the Constitution and laws of Kosovo, and it is protected with all institutional mechanisms. However, religious activity cannot be used for political purposes, nor can it affect order, law, and justice. For the peace we enjoy today we have paid the high price, so Kosovo institutions will not tolerate actions that affect public security, interfere with the independence of the judiciary and promote conflicts by jeopardising co-existence among communities”, he said.
