The Volkswagen Group confirmed this weekend that their US subsidiary, which collected consumer data on marketing and internet sales, was the victim of a hacker attack, with anonymous hackers stealing data from its system of more than 3.3 million people.
These are data involving names, phone numbers, e-mails and residential addresses, and in some cases V numbers. In their cars, as well as patent numbers for drivers and social security numbers, which are particularly sensitive data in the US.
The VW said it had already contacted about 90,000 clients, whose sensitive data had been stolen and offered them free protection assistance.
