German Eurodeput from the Left Party, Cornelia Ernst, says it fully agrees with the colleague's contractive statement by her party, German MP Zaklin Nastic, who in a speech in Bundestag on KFOR's mandate, said Kosovo should disarm.
In a response to the Klonkosova.tv portal, Ernst says that Kosovo needs to start a new start, but constantly disarming.
“I too reject the KFOR mission in Kosovo. This mission so far has shown almost no results. Organised crime is widespread (in Kosovo), so has Germany's Foreign Ministry. Hundreds of thousands of weapons are on private property. Amnesty International and the Council of Europe have also voiced criticism on the issue. Kosovo must constantly disarm. Only then is a new start possible”.
Despite negative thinking for Kosovo, Ernst says he had voted in favour of visa liberalisation for Kosovars when in 2018 he was put to the polls in the European Parliament, where he also spent a majority of votes recommending the Committee for Civil Freedoms, Justice and Internal Affairs for visa liberalisation for Kosovo.
In the speech that is supporting the Eurodeput, Nastic had compared the NATO Air Force that bombed the steps to stop ethnic cleansing in Kosovo with Hitler's.
“In front of 20,000 tonnes of bombs and uranium ammunition, Belgrade residents had to hide in the same air strike shelters as Hitler's once air force”, Nastic has said.
In Nastic's post in Titter, there were many comments criticising such an opinion against Kosovo, as well as journalists seeking answers to what arguments he built the speech. Therefore, even the MP's staff reacted to one of them, saying it has been facing “with mass insults and threats”.
“You must understand that debates that exacerbate this threat situation will not continue further on to Titter”, the staff said.
German expert on the Western Balkans Bodo Weber, who has said such an opinion is minority and will never become Germany's official policy, has commented on this stand by the Left Party.
