Facebook has suspended Donald Trump's account for two years, the company has announced.
“Considering the weight of the circumstances that led to Mr. Trump, we believe his actions constituted a serious violation of our rules deserving the highest sentence available in the new implementation protocols. We are suspending his accounts for two years, effective from the date of the initial suspension on January 7th of this year, ” said Nick Clegg, Facebook's deputy chairman for global issues, in a statement Friday, 4 June.
At the end of the suspension period, Facebook said, will work with experts to assess the risk of public safety presented by reopening Trump's account.
“We will evaluate external factors, including cases of violence, restrictions on peaceful rally and other civil unrest targets”, Clegg wrote.
If we determine that there is still a serious danger to public safety, we will extend the restriction for a certain period of time and continue to reevaluate until that risk is withdrawn. ”
He added that once the suspension is lifted, “a strict group of sanctions scaled at a speed of” would be caused if Trump violates Facebook policies.
