The EU office in Kosovo has reacted following the decision the country's president, Vjosa Osmani, made yesterday to dismiss from the position he held in the CEC now and many years, Valdete Daka.
In a tweet, the chief of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Thomas Szunyog, has commented on this decision, saying it is important that all procedures are in line with Kosovo's laws.
“We have been notified of President Osmani's decision to fire the CEC chief, and to appoint a new one. It is important that all procedures be in line with Kosovo's laws and that the CEC's independence be preserved by providing professional preparations in time for local elections and for reforms in the law on elections”, Szunyog has written.
On Tuesday, Osmani decided on the dismissal of Daka. Its dismissal was not welcomed by civil society, which accused the president of having been political.
It has even been warned that Vjosa Osman's decision could be sent to the Constitutional Court for interpretation.
Look not of @VyosaOsman P RKS refused to design @ CECSova chair & appint a new one. Importable that all procedures are in line w/ Kosovo Law & that CEC independence is serviced 2 professional assets & times preparation of multi-medical selections & electronic legislation reform.
