This statement comes ahead of the meeting in Brussels that will be held on 15 June and in response to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's request, which called for Serbia to recognise Kosovo.
Serbian media have reported that Serbian Prime Minister Anna Brnabyq responded that Kosovo does not recognise five EU members, that Kosovo is not a member of the UN, and that in that sense there can be no other status from the existing one. Kurt answered her with a question: “What are you going to do, do you want to take over?”
While Brnabiqi replied: “How do you think we are taking over our territory?”, Serbian media report.
Edita Tahiri, the former chief negotiator of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, in a response to “Zen” has named this declaration as provocative, saying that both Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and Brnabiqi, both of whom have remained mentally in the era of war criminal Slobodan Milosevic.
Tahiri has stressed that as long as both continue with this mentality, there will be no good neighbourhood and dialogue will be unsuccessful.
We should not be surprised by such provocative statements by Serbia's leaders, whether by Vuciqi or Brnabiqi, that those with minds still live in the Milosevic era, which has made genocide in Kosovo, and are unable to face the past. As they continue to do so with Milosevic's mentality, there will be neither good neighbourly relations nor peace, nor dialogue can succeed with such a billion-euro mentality, Tahiri said, Zeri.info.
The former chief negotiator has added that the European Union representative, as participants in this Sam, is the first to react to the issue.
“Such positions are in fact of destabilising consequences for peace and stability in the region, and in this case the government of Kosovo must first react, but also the European Union, because the EU representative has been at the Balkan Summit in Tirana. It is up to him to first on behalf of the EU to react to such provocative statements”, Tahiri told “Zerin”.
Tahiri has also delivered a message to Serbia.
“A message to Serbia, the International Court of Justice has confirmed the legality of Kosovo's independence. Kosovo has become independent thanks to shed blood. This is a reality that no one can change”, former chief negotiator Edita Tahiri has declared.
Otherwise, dialogue on normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia will continue on Tuesday, 15 June. This will be the first meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq.
