Josep Eduardo Almudever Matthew, who was born on July 30th 1919 in Marseille by Spanish parents, was 16 years old and was living in the town of Alcasser, Valencia, when Franco's stamp occurred that led to the Spanish civil war.
After lying about his age only to be listed in the Republican army, Almudever was injured and sent home when his true age was discovered. Being steadfast, he used French citizenship to join the International Brigades in order to fight, writes The Guardian, translate Periscope.
When the brigades were distributed in 1938, and many of the fighters were sent home from 80 countries from which they came, Almudever decided to return to Spain.
He had been arrested after Franzo's victory and had been sent to concentration camps.
We remember that these brigades had also included Albanian warriors such as Xhemal Qada and Asim Vokshi. /Periscope
