Vuciq receives an official announcement: Concerned that Greece could recognise Kosovo

Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, said he has received official reports that Greece is aiming to improve its relations with Kosovo. He said he believes in Belgrade's friendship with Athens and that Greece will go a step further to recognise independence. In a press release after meeting with [...]
In a press release after meeting with the patriarch and bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, members of the Council of Archbishops Vuciq said that when Kosovo imposed taxes on Serbian goods, Greece gave him the opportunity to open commercial offices, and now this report has gone to a higher level.
On Friday, we were officially informed that Greece would improve its relations with Pristina to a higher level, political directors, who are the highest possible person at the level of a minister”, he explained.
Vuciq said he would pray Greece does not allow it to happen, because the next step would be recognition of Kosovo's independence.
According to him, this is a problem because it shows that not only Europe can join against Serbia on the Kosovo issue.
He stressed that there is an additional danger that other countries are pressured to do the same.
Then, he says, bilateral agreements would be reached, where a third country would represent Kosovo in international organisations, and thus become part of NATO.
This situation is very difficult for us. We invited the Greek ambassador for a conversation, but we got nothing because we have faith in friendship and hope that it will not go into further measures and approaches”, Vuciq stressed.
Asked whether it has received guarantees that Greece will not recognise Kosovo, he has said it has received such guarantees every day, but that facts show they are increasing the level of their relations with Kosovo.
In the next period, I expect more visits to Belgrade and everything that will work will be pressure. There will also be efforts to secure Kosovo's independence through regional initiatives. It will offer some solutions that look good at first glance, but behind that is recognition de facto”, the Serbian president stressed.
Vucic concluded that Serbia is facing a very difficult political period.
Even yesterday, Vuciq spoke of Kosovo's relations with Greece, expressing his concern that they are changing markedly on the diplomatic level.
