MP The PDK, Elmi Recica, has reacted after the report by Interior Minister Jhelal Svecla, ahead of the Parliamentary Commission for Security and Defence Affairs, which said that this year Kosovo will not apply for membership in Interpol.
He said that for the Democratic Party of Kosovo, such a decision, except that it constitutes violations of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, at the same time manifests the suspension of its international subjectivity.
“This decision constitutes violations of Article 17, paragraph 1 of the Constitution, under which the Republic of Kosovo connects international agreements and memberships in international organisation”. Also violated is Article 93, paragraph 1 of the Constitution under which the government proposes and implements the country's domestic and foreign policy”.”, he said.
He considers that Kosovo's non-membership in the world police family is a major challenge for the Kosovo Police and for the security of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, because it cannot afford international police co-operation, fighting organised crime, terrorising and fair extremism.
The inability to access the Kosovo Police to international information that is very important for identifying suspected persons hurts significantly the efficiency of police. The PDK is concerned with the fraudulent discour of this government, whose consequence is weakening Kosovo's international subjectivity and limited access to international information in the area of security. Those who talk about the country's sovereignty every day are the same who harm and suspend the foreign sovereignty of the state.”, said Recica
He recalled that in February 2020, former Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Minister Glauk Konjufca had declared that the Interpol membership application would take place in 2021 when the General Assembly is to be held in Turkey.
This public promise of Vetevendosje Movement is being violated by them. In fact, this is what characterizes the Vetevendosje Movement. Deception, manipulation, hypocrisy and demagogi.”, he said.
