Oil Law hostage since 2009 oilmen expect to pass within 100 days of government

Berjan also added that the decision by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to return oil quality control to Kosovo Customs is shot.

According to him, this decision saves businesses money by allowing them to take the derivative at cheaper prices.

“As far as the quality of oil in Kosovo can be said freely according to information we have or according to the control that is being done, oil is in good quality. We have quality oil as a country in the region. As for the quality control which the former minister selected and sent to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, he has been a total mistake, but the minister, Roseta Hajdari, who partially canceled that instruction and turned it into Customs of the Republic of Kosovo where in all countries in the region, Europe and the world does this job, customs”.

One of the challenges of this sector, Berjan considers cleaning up oil reserves, which take place every three years in Kosovo, saying it should be carried out as in other countries of the region.

“We've had another problem cleaning the reserves, we haven't been against cleaning up the reserve if it's done in countries in the region. Concrete cases, such as Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Albania, and not every three years as former ministers were trying for profit and for their special companies for personal benefits”, he has said.

Also named Berjan as the problem of this sector's failure to pass the Oil Law since 2009, announcing that it has received promises from current Trade and Industry Minister Roseta Hajdari that this law will pass within 100 days of this government.

According to Berjan, this law has not been prosecuted over the years due to the favour done to several companies.

“From institutions we expect the Oil Law to believe and I hope it will be passed on to the first 100 days of Prime Minister Kurti. Rosette Hajdari at a meeting that the church invited us to be in the Oil Law processing group, that draft is almost complete but also 2-3 mandatory meetings we have to spend and compile as well as possible for everyone. This law is known to have not passed because I tried to favour some companies, and now we hope that this law will pass. This law has not passed since 2009 imagine what war it has been until now that many companies have tried to remove from import, while this law will be appropriate for all, and that's where the citizen will benefit from”, he has explained.

The head of Oilmen has shown that the damage caused by pandemic in this sector has already been overcome.
