Everton's James Rodriguez has been cut off by the Colombia team because of the damage and will lose Copa America and two World Cup qualifications in June, the Columbia Football Federation said on Friday.
In the past few days, the midfielder underwent medical exams that determined he was not at the opital level of shape and so he would not join Coach Reinaldo Rueda's team.
The statement did not specify the problem, but Everton's player has missed several matches this season with one injury, including the last two Premier League season matches that saw him fly to Colombia earlier.
Everton Carlo Anceplotti's manager confirmed that Rodriguez was looking forward to Copa America, but he thinks the attacking midfielder will be able until the start of next season.
Italian said earlier this month: I think Copa America is in his mind when the season is over.
James was really disappointed at the fact that he was unable to help the team in this final part of the season and was really sad. But what can he do?
He should be ready when the season starts and try to avoid the problem he had this season. I hope to have the next season in better shape. )
. The Code America begins on June 13th.
Colombia was meant to co-organise the tournament with Argentina, but civil unrest there prompted the South American Football Confederate to remove them as common managers.
No decision has been made where the 15 games planned for Colombia can be played.
