Defence minister promises bus purchase after stopping cars for generals

Dear citizens,

Under the scan of the situation in the Ministry of Defence, I have reviewed the aspects of planning in the area of procurement and finance. In order to rationalise the spending of public money, as well as to enhance the operational capacities of the KSF, I have re-arranged the annual procurement plan and expenses for a certain number of procurement activities.

Planned activities, which were focused on representation, vehicle maintenance spending, vehicle purchase spending and marketing spending, have been re-arranged with the aim of focusing on operational needs and military acquisitions for KSF. The re-arranged value is 1.5m euros, while from the revision process will also be reviewed and expenditures reduced for existing contracts to 1m euros.

In this case, I have decided that this value will be planned to create a safe transportation opportunity for all KSF members. For the value of 2.5m euros, which we have managed to save from the spending plan for existing contracts and procurement activities for 2021, we will make purchases of new buses, to create ease in the operation and transport of each member, throughout Kosovo.

The same changes will be reflected in the budget review process for 2021, while for the upcoming period of budget planning in 2022, where the defence ministry budget has grown to the value of 106m euros, the purchase of military equipment for the establishment of KSF's defence capacities will be focused. Military acquisitions will be made exclusively through programmes for military purchase <x0 state-run” and the US FMS programme to ensure maximize budget expenditures through a creditable and transparent process.
