Most members of the UN Security Council have expressed concern about the situation and have asked this body to play its role in reducing tensions, said China Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Cunjing, during a regular press conference.
She added that the United States, unfortunately, has rejected a joint statement during an emergency meeting of the United Nations on Wednesday, writes Chinese English-language television, CGTN, broadcast newspaper Express.
According to some sources quoted by the AFP agency, 14 of the 15 UN Security Council member states supported the adoption of a joint declaration aimed at reducing tensions between Israel and Palestinians, while only the United States opposed it.
The Chinese spokeswoman said the United States has been indifferent to Palestinian suffering, while on the other hand they have vowed to hold meetings with their allies on the minority issue in Xinjiang.
“The lives of Palestinians are also valid”, the Cunnying spokeswoman added, urging Washington to embrace justice during handling the conflict in Gaza and Israel.
Otherwise, at least 132 people have been killed in Gaza by Monday, including 32 children and 21 women, while another 950 have suffered injuries, Palestinian medics said.
Meanwhile, Israeli authorities said that among the eight killed so far are a soldier who patrolled the border and six civilians, including two children.
