His story had conquered the planet, marking the revant of those who have always favored the appeal of culinary before sweat and sacrifices required by the gym.
On June 1, 2019, Andy Ruiz, a Californian with proud Mexican roots, performed one of the most spectacular surprises in boxing history, defeating Anthony Joshua at the Madison temple and snatching the crowns of heavy weights Wba, Wbo, Ibf and Ibo.
More than just an achievement, being only called at the end to replace Jared Miller, suspended for doping.
But more than the terrible June in the 7th round, surprised (no) Ruiz's physical form, that vast layer of fat spread to 188cm, rich in a passion for beer (never has hidden, in fact), making it look like a joke in front of Joshua's carved muscles.
Although in boxing, and especially in the queen category, it's important that yours not make your hands ineffective. His men have always hidden dynamite, as confirmed by the nickname Destroyer.

But as often as it happens to those who find themselves magical in another dimension, in an explosion of popularity, money and vision, that night also marked the beginning of the end for Andy. Overloaded by the sudden sports and financial well - being and the passion of a people, the Mexican man who loves boxing but has never had a king of heavy weights, the world champion was released to parties, entertainment, television shows, totally uninterested in preparation, even though the row with Joshua was scheduled for December 7th. Six months of exuberance, with the most obvious consequence of when he enters the ring in Arabia he looks even fatier and above all inflated and very slow: “In the first match I weighed 121kg, in the revans I was 128, but on the night of the World Cup I was obviously about 136”. And he actually got ahead of his opponent by losing all his rounds, even though he proudly resisted on foot.
HU MNERA “I ended up in depression, I was aware that I had blown up everything I had built and that if only I had prepared well, I might still be a champion. I just wanted to crawl under my bed, hide and eat Cherios” Which are actually cereals with calories charged honey like a hydrogen bomb. Among other things, as a result of his insecure mental state, Ruiz still gained a few pounds, crossing over 140.

Then one day light came: “I said to myself: it could have happened to anyone. But now I don't want anyone to ever happen again. And so he is introduced to San Diego at the gym of Eddy Reynoso, the man who cares for the athletic training of Canelo Alvarez, one of America's most famous trainers. The miracle takes shape: It was the necessary structure that was lacking in his training. In just a few months, Andy lost 20 kilos and now weighs less than when he first confronted Joshua. Above all, his body is now weak and muscular: “Everything has changed. Everything's different. My mind, my soul, everything. But the most important thing is outside the gym. I learned to discipline myself and not to go mad. I don't try to eat much like I used to be”.

Learning to do things on my own, with the absolute lack of rules in the gym and at the table, now he sees new prospects open: “There are no more candy, no more cake I love so much. Over the weekend, I have a day when I can enjoy everything. But just one day. And when I want to order a pizza, they tell me not to do it, to remember the trip I'm doing”
Finally, the sacrifices will focus on a specific horizon: Saturday evening, in Carson, California, Ruiz will return to the ring for the first time since that terrible night in Arabia, facing forty-year-old Chris Arreola, who had challenged the title Wilder in 2016, and in hopes of facing Dillan White, the acting champion of Wbc, and perhaps treating himself at another star challenge with Joshua or Fury: “I'll be a discreet man, I'll go back to a champion in the ring, and I'll go back inside the ringman, and a champion, all the ringman, out of (4)x>.
