All non-key shops will be closed and there will be a ban on travelling more than 10km from home without cause of urgency.
The country is facing high rates of infection with over 5,000 people in intensive care.
What measures did Macro announce?
In his direct televised address on Wednesday, March 31, Mr. Macro described the situation in the country as “delicate” and said April would be crucial.
We will lose control if we don't move now,” he said.
The 43-year-old president said there was a race between vaccines on the one hand and efforts to control the spread of the virus on the other.
Mr. Macron said the measures introduced on March 19th in early March BAR including the closure of non-); limited movement within 10km of one individual's house; and stopping travel to other parts of the country without a valid reason would extend across the country.
The president said that “the end of the” tunnel was being seen if people respected the new measures, the BBC reports.
