In January, South Korean electronics giant said he was looking at all options for sharing after almost six years of losses amounting to about $ 4.5 billion (3.3 billion).
The LG brought in many innovations, including ultra-wide cameras, so it was raised to third-place smartphone manufacturer in 2013.
But the telephone market has become an extremely competitive “market”.
While Samsung and Apple are the two biggest players in the smartphone market, LG has suffered from its problems with hardware and software.
As the LG continued its struggle with losses, she held talks to sell part of the business. But these talks fell.
It still ranks as the third most popular brand in North America, but not in other markets.
The LG's strategic decision to exit the extremely competitive mobile phone sector will enable the company to focus resources on growth areas such as electrical car components, linked equipment, smart homes, robotics and artificial intelligence.
The smartphone business is the smallest, accounting for only 7.4% of revenues. Currently, its shares in the world mobile market are about 2%.
LG has competed with its biggest rivals, with the release in last year of T Wing, a smartphone with a bigger screen that spins to show a second.
