U n The EFA is determined to reshape Europe's elite competition, and on Monday confirmed that there will be major changes, Periscopi broadcast.
The actual format has 32 teams divided into eight groups.
The number of teams is expected to rise to 36 and there will be no group phase.
Instead of groups, the teams will play in a big league. Each team will hold 10 matches against 10 different opponents.
Top eight teams will qualify directly in the phase of the elimination directly, while teams ending in ninth to 24th will face play-off two meetings for the remaining eight countries.
The elimination phase will remain the same as it is today.
The new format guarantees more matches and this is something Ilkay Goddogan has frustrated.
Manchester City midfielder has used Twitter to attack change.
He wrote: ” With all things about the Super League happening... can we please talk about the new Champions League format?
You're not thinking about football. New format of UCL is the worst evil of two evils compared to Super League...
Current”Format of UCL works great, and for that it's the most famous competition in the world for us players and fans.” /Periscope. com/
