EU congratulates Vjosa Osmani: Searchs for reform and restart of dialogue

By 71 votes for the Kosovo Assembly has elected Vjosa Osmani to the post of president. After the election, she took the oath before deputies.
She won in the third round of voting. For the counterCandids, there was former candidate for deputy, Nasuf Bata. In the third round of voting, 82 MPs participated, where 11 votes were invalid. Both in the February 14th elections have run the Osman list, which ran under the list of deputies of the Vetevendosje Movement.
In her address to the assembly, Osmani said this post vilifies it with great responsibility as well as pledged to protect the country's sovereignty and integrity.
“Today I pledge to you that it will work every day to strengthen our state, the republic of Kosovo, rule of law, guarantee the protection of fundamental human freedoms and dignified life for all. Today I pledge that I will protect every inch of Kosovo and engage generously to ensure the privacy of the country's institutional territorial integrity and sovereignty”, Osmani said.
Since November 5th, 2020, Kosovo has been acting as incumbent on the president, as Hashim Thaci has resigned from this position after confirming the indictment for war crimes and crimes against humanity by the Specialised Chambers in The Hague.
Osmani, former official of the Democratic League of Kosovo, in the February 14th parliamentary elections competed on the joint list with LVV and received the most votes, more than 300 thousand, respectively.
