The Kosovo Tourism Union, in co-operation with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Trade, has published research today on the impact of COVIDD-19 in the tourism sector in our country.
Industry, Intervention and Trade Minister Roseta Hajdari said the pandemic has caused the decline of international visitors and a sharp decline in revenues from the sector.
“The tourism sector has been severely influenced by pandemic, the number of international visitors has dropped by 70 percent, while the overall decline in revenues is more than 91 percent”, she said.
This sector, according to Minister Hajdari, is of particular importance for economic development and that the Kurti 2 Government will take tourism development priority.
Kosovo Tourism Union Director Bucky Hoti stressing that it is the first research of this kind, said this research will also affect institutions to support tourism because it is a major pillar of economy and employment growth.
The guide sector is the most affected sector of 82.71 percent in the pandemic, followed by the accommodation sector at 74.84 percent, the air transport and road sector by 71.26 percent. The tourist agency has also seen a 66 - percent drop, and gastronomy 55.53 percent.
