22 years ago today, NATO launched air strikes on Serb war machine targets to save the people of Kosovo from genocide.
Along with the Kosovo Liberation Army on earth, NATO managed to remove the Serb conqueror from Kosovo after 78 days of bombing.
Today, as we recall the suffering and sacrifice of our people, we remember and honor those who risked themselves to help us in our most difficult hour. One of them is Dutch Air Force brave pilot Colonel Peter Tankink, who on the first night of NATO bombing, fought in Kosovo's sky on his F-16 plane, striking an enemy plane, MiG-29 Serbs.
With this gesture of bravery, Cole. Tankink has won all our respect and gratitude. In December of last year, I had the special honor of handing over the presidential Medal, <x0... Freedom Order”.
