Murder and violence against women are continuing to fail to receive the conviction deserved by our institutions of justice. Even though all the changes in the legal framework have been made, and finally, during 2020, even the introduction of the Istanbul Convention in the Constitution of Kosovo, which requires merit sentences for the perpetrators of violence against women and girls.
Kosovo is still failing to punish women's killers. Finally, on February 3, 2021, Prizren's Constitutional Court sentenced Ilir Hadziaj, who in 2019 beat his wife, Hatije Dinah, to 15 years in prison. He was sentenced for the <x0 heavy body loss”.
To challenge this decision, and to remind Prizren's Constitutional Court that this “was taken away by Hatije Dinah, under the organisation of the Prizren Foundation of Thinking and Religious Action, dozens of activists protested today from 12: 00 p.m. before the Prizren Foundation Court.
Supporting this protest, the Kosovo Women's Network ( S. The GK estimates that Ilir Hadziaj's rating and conviction with the “Ending the Corps” is completely unfair and contrary to the legal framework in the country.
We expect the voice of these activists who protested today to reach the Court of Appeals, so that they can make void the sentence handed down by the Constitutional Court in Prizren.
Also, RRGK through this statement announces it will soon monitor the progress of this judicial process.
