Palestine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called Kosovo's decision to open the Embassy in Israel disappointing after linking diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Palestine Foreign Ministry has called on Kosovo to withdraw the decision to open the embassy in Jerusalem, writes Palestinian news agency Wafa, broadcast Reporter.net.
In response, it is said that this Kosovo decision conflicts with efforts, as well as recognition.
The agreement that Kosovo signed with the occupational power (Israel) and its declaration of intent to open the embassy in occupied Jerusalem is a step that conflicts with everything Kosovo is trying to make the world recognise it”, said among other things in the statement.
Palestine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs further seeks Kosovo to quickly review that decision, according to them, and to provide examples of commitment to international legitimacy and law.
The foreign ministry urges Kosovo to quickly review this step and correct this wrong action if it wants to provide an example of its commitment to international legitimacy and law, it is said further in the statement.
At a ceremony held in the Zoo in Jerusalem and Pristina, Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and his counterpart from the Republic of Kosovo, Melza Haradinaj Stublla, signed a joint statement Monday for formalising diplomatic ties.
The foreign ministers signed two co-operation agreements one to establish their diplomatic relations and the other dealing with the activities of Israel's international development agency.
