National Union, Majko: This story must be closed, Kurti thinking of Kosovo's leadership

Albin Kurti's statement that it would vote for the pro if a referendum on the Kosovo-Albania union was held for Minister of State for Diasporra in Albania Pandeli Majko is a story that must be closed and that now priority for Vetevendosje and its leader should be the direction of Kosovo.

In an interview in Euronews Albania, former Prime Minister Majko said such discussions create problems with international acts guaranteeing Kosovo's stability and named the idea of national unity an idea that existed in the past century.

“I think Kurti has only one priority, to run as statesman and prime minister to the state of Kosovo, I don't believe they do any good to the history of such nature. It doesn't have to connect strange nature to ideas that have existed in the past century, I mean in the years, I mean, I mean, I mean, in the '80s and 1990s about uniting Kosovo with Albania, not that I emotionally feel different from Kurti, but I think that discussions of such nature would create problems with international acts that guarantee the stability of Kosovo. I'm talking about acts guaranteeing NATO presence in Kosovo and the Ahtisaari” package, Albania's former prime minister said.

Pandeli Majko called on Albin Kurti, who should focus on strengthening the state of Kosovo and not promoting opening such discussions because it will negatively affect new international recognitions.

“A prime minister cannot interpret for different status states he will lead because Kosovo is being recognised by other states. If they would think that Kosovo is leading a double life this would encourage other states to be more reserved for the recognition of Kosovo. Such stories need to be closed, "Vetevendosje" and its leader should think only of a priority and this is about leading the state of Kosovo”, Majko added.
