Google has dismissed the founder and co-director of its artificial intelligence ethics unit, claiming it violated the company's code of conduct.

In a statement, Google said an investigation found out that Margaret Mitchell had moved files outside the company, writes BBC, broadcasts Indexline.

The ethics unit has been under surveillance since December, following the departure of another high figure, Timni Gebru.

Both women had campaigned for more diversity in Google and raised concerns about censorship within the company.
Mrs. Mitchell reported on Twitter “I am fired”

For the last five weeks it was shut down by Google systems, including electronic posts and her calendars.

Meanwhile, she has sent an email to the interior group called “Gratte Brain and Allied”, and the decision was criticised.

Dr. Gebru, had sent to her executive enamel some basic conditions for removing her name from the newspaper and if they weren't met, she wouldn't work, while Google replied that we respect your decision to leave Google and we're accepting your resignation.

Hundreds of colleagues signed a letter in support of it. In response, the chief executive of the Sundar Pichai company apologized for the way she left the firm.

Google has been criticised for its lack of diversity in labour power and has concerns about technology. / BBC
