President Alexander Ceferin discovered the possibility of the League Champions final, to be taken from Europe shortly after his election in 2016.
He said: “I think it might be an idea in the future, but we need to talk about it.
For example, going from Portugal to Azerbaijan is almost the same as going to New York. It's not a problem for fans. “
The Chefer later left the idea in a short term and the upcoming finals will be amounting to Istanbul in June, followed by St Petersburg, Munich and later Wimbledon in 2024.
But it will signal the end of the League Champions in its current format.
Despite opposition from European leagues, including Premier League, Wafa is determined to move forward with its reformed concept.
This will see that 36 teams, with two of the four additional sites given to clubs based on historical co-oppondents.
All teams will play ten matches against the first opponents to create a final table through the so-called Swiss system.
The eight best clubs will move into the 16th phase of the last elimination from the right, joined by the winner of the play-off, including those teams listed from ninth to 24th.
But Wade knows the need to change her marketing strategy to get more high-value sponsors.
And attracting to the cash-loaded US market can be the key to unlocking millions of additional incomes.
American fans are desperate to see Europe's largest teams playing competitive games in their land, and no match means more than the Champions League Final.
Returning the finals to a truly global event, not every season, but on the grounds of the occasion, would be an important move.
This could also trigger a rage of offers by American broadcasters for television rights in the jewel of European club football.
An American football person told SunSport: “We've seen crowds of 100,000 or more for pre-sezonal friendlys involving large European sides here.
It makes any sense in the world for Wafa to explore this. ”
