As Szijjarto writes in his official Facebook profile, the new German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock recently threatened sanctions against Dodik.
“We are concerned about such statements because Bosnia and Herzegovina is close to us, maintaining stability and peace in the country is our fundamental interest in security. Berlin is farther away, but not far away than you can ever fly to Banja Luka from there. Fly and negotiate. Talk to the Serbs. With them, not for them. Perhaps this will help you to understand the” situation, Sziyjarto wrote.
He added that the EU could impose sanctions on anyone only with the unanimous decision of all member states.
And to be clear, Hungary will not support any sanctions against BiH Serb leader Milorad Dodik. If there is such a proposal, we will veto it. Conversation, not sanctions, is what EU policy for the Western Balkans should deal with in the future”, the Hungarian minister said.
