Ghislaine Maxwell has been found guilty of recruiting and trafficking of young girls, who are said to have been sexually abused by US funder Jeffrey Epstein. The 60-year-old was found guilty of five out of the six charges he faced, including the most serious charge of sexual trafficking of a minor.
The decision was made after five full days of discussion by a jury of 12 people in New York. That means the British socialist can spend the rest of her life behind bars. The ruling followed a month-long trial, during which four women witnessed, describing abuses from Epstein from 1994 to 2004.
Maxwell showed no visible signs of emotion, the American media suggest as the decision was read. Immediately after the decision, her legal team said they were already working to appeal the decision.
“We strongly believe in the innocence of Ghislaine,” her lawyer, Bobbi Sternheim, told reporters.
US prosecutor Damian Williams welcomed the decision and praised the victims of abuse for “rium”. Jeffrey Epstein was an American millionaire who killed himself in 2019 in prison.
He had friends with important characters, by Donald Trump, at the Bill Clinton of Prince Andree, who allegedly attended the Epstein's minority sex parties.
