Phelani was a panic buying by David Moes, who had failed to transfer all of his main targets to his first term pass after replacing Sir Alex Ferguson as United's coach, broadcast Periscope.
Moes knew Felain from their time together at Everton and persuaded his new employers to spend over 30m euros on the last day of the deadline, in September 2013.

The fellain ended up standing at Old Tuffford for five and a half seasons, marking 22 goals during this time.
He also won several trophies, including FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europe League.
But when Phelani eventually left Manchester to go to the Chinese club Shandong Lunang in January of 2019, a few United fans were sad to see him leave.
Despite all the criticism he received, Phelani managed to become captain of Manchester United in the match against Sunderland in April 2017.

When Phelani was first discovered to be a captain, analyst of the U.S. Sky Sports, Jamie Redknapp thought it was a joke.
Presentant Dave Jones asked Redknappin: ” Think of the great leaders they had in the last year, would you put it there?”
Redknapp courageously replied: ” no. I wouldn't actually.
Are you kidding me? Is that the captain? All right.” /Periscope. com/
