By already playing the last match of 2021, Barcelona is looking for attackers for 2022 and the Catalan club are preparing some important changes in their first team. Xavi has already entered to replace Ronald Koeman on the team, and the new coach wants some personnel changes.
It will not be an easy process for Barcelona, given the limits of La Liga's economic control spending. For example, the departure of Sergio Aguero had to allow the arrival of Danny Alves, with these two operations already under way.
For other players to come, some will have to leave. Although there is money to make signatures, Fair Play's financial regulations imply that space must be cleared.
Strengthening the Attack
Barcelona's main priority is the reinforcement in the attack, as it is a team that lacks a goalist.
Aguero should be such, but his forced retirement and the problems of injuries experienced during his stay in Camp Nou have damaged Barcelona in this regard.
Luuk de Jong's influence has been minimal, so club directors are looking at options on the market.
Ferran Torres is the main target
The main target of the transfer at the moment is Ferran Torres, and the agreement between all sides is virtually complete.
Xavi wanted him to come, not only to help the rest of this edition, but also to play a key role in the future. That's why he's decided to sign a long-term contract for five seasons.
But before he comes, others must leave.
The opportunity to sign with Cavana
Barcelona's second main goal this winter is Edinson Cavani.
Uruguay is not playing much for Manchester United, but Barcelona will have to convince the English club to let the veteran go.
Seven players waiting to leave
As mentioned earlier, none of these will be possible without exit. With that in mind, there are seven players who can leave.
Samuel Umtiti, Philip Coutinho, Yusuf Demir, Sergino Dest and Luuk de Jong are not on Xavi plans, and the club will seek to remove them, though this may be difficult and the first two have especially high salaries.
Clement Langlett may also be on the run, even though he has had minutes under Xavi's direction, while Barcelona will hear any offer for Ousmane Demuse because it can make sense to benefit now that the Frenchman is not renewing.
Depending on how successful the exit operation is, Barcelona can go for one or both Torres and Cavana.
At this point, however, the only guaranteed arrival of January is that of Dani Alves.
