Tensions between Paris and London have increased after 21 immigrants died on the shores of the English Canal Calais.
French Interior Minister Gerald Darman has on Friday cancelled his British counterpart's visit, Priti Patel, with which he had to discuss migration on Sunday.
The move comes after UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on France to take “immigrants” -- this in a letter he sent to French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday.
The letter proposed that joint naval, air and land patrols be made starting next week, an idea France has resisted.
Darman had said that the letter is a <x0 fallback”, making it public made things worse “”, prompting the annulment of the visit, writes Euronea.
