The Euro 2020 champion handed over the leader in the qualifying group to Switzerland on Monday evening, until he reached no more than a goalless draw against Northern Ireland in the last match.
Italian fans with reason will be concerned about their national participation in playoff, having very bad memories from 2017, Periscope broadcasts.
In November of that year, the Azzurs failed to secure a place in the World Cup after they were eliminated from Sweden.
Gian Piero Ventura became the first coach in 1958 to fail to lead the National to the World Cup.
And some of his decisions during the second match in a row San Siro's vs. Sweden was a real businessman.
Lorenzo Insigne, who was and still is one of the best attackers in the world, did not even walk into the bank.
In the last few minutes of the match, Ventura even asked defanzier Danielle De Rossi to start driving until Insigne just stood there ignored.
This prompted frustrating reaction from De Rossi, who was aware that he was not the right person to be introduced until Italy was seeking the goal.
According to many Italian newspapers, De Rossi told Italy's former trainer pointing his finger at Insigne:
Why the hell am I going in? We don't need victory here, we have to win.” /Periscope. com/
