Leo Messy, in an interview for “SPORT” from his home in Paris, returns to recall the departure of Barcelona. He also showed his feelings about the club in which he was formed. Here's the episode referring to Barca.
From Barcelona to Paris. From “Camp Nou” on “Pace des Princess”. What a difference, right?
It was a big change that, as I said back then, I didn't imagine. Fortunately, I have already been adjusted; children are already in school, we have become more or less accustomed to our daily routine and are happy.
It's been two months since you left Barca. Are you used to this idea?
When I watch the games, it makes me feel like part of Barcelona. I remember things from fights in “Camp Nou”, I'm recovering a little bit of everything I had there. Now, as I said, I'm calmer, I've assimilated everything into Paris and, of course, I think about everything I have here, at the sports and family level. We are also enjoying the city here, which is wonderful despite the weather.
Laporta commented that he thought you'd accept the free lion already at the bar. Would you have done that if asked?
The truth is, as I explained during farewell, I did everything I could to stay. Never, at any moment, they never asked me to play for free. I was asked to cut my 50 - percent salary, and I did it without a problem. We were able to help the club more. My desire and that of my family was to stay in Barcelona. No one asked me to play for free, but at the same time, it seems to me that the president's words are not appropriate. He hurt me because I don't think he needed to say that. It's like taking your ball off and not taking over its consequences. That makes people think, or generates some kind of suspicion that I don't think I deserve.
Have you spoken to Laporta again?
No.
Will you return to Barcelona when your contract is concluded with the SPG, after two seasons?
I don't know. What is almost confirmed and certain; we will live again in Barcelona. Our lives will continue there. It's what my wife wants, and what I want. I don't know if when my contract with SPG is done, but we're going back to Barcelona to live.
What about Barca?
I always said I wish I could help the club. If I'm useful, I won't be spared at all. I'd like to be a technical secretary at some point. I don't know if I'm gonna keep this part of Barcelona or not. Or if I have a different role. If possible, I'd like to contribute back to what I can because it's the club I want.
How do you see Barca at the moment? Do you think he can win titles this season?
He's got a great team, he plays great. I see him every time I can. Important and very good boys, such as Gavi, appeared. Team level looks good. Kun and Dembélé will be a great help to the team.
Do you have relations with any of your former colleagues?
Yeah, I talk a lot to Kun Agüro, who wasn't a partner, but he's a big friend. Bus, I talk to Jordie Alba a lot.
