The Albanian MP, Shaip Kamberi, has quoted few verses from the national anthem during today's session in Serbia's Parliament, where he has re-focused the battle for the use of cobra symbols.
Kamberi asked Serbia's prime minister, Anna Brnabyq, when will conditions be created for free, public and official use of the Albanian national character?
I can only mention vandalism to the Albanian state flag here, but my duty was to ask why Albanians in the Presevo Valley -- respectfully those living in Serbia -- cannot freely, publicly and formally use their national symbol, which essentially represents some of their identity”, Kamberi said among other things.
As Serbia highlighted how it clones war criminals, Kamberi at the end of his word recalled that our non-stopagement for identities and symbols also owes us lines of our anthem”, citing some verses from him.
The Albanian speech of Shaip Kamber in the Serbian Parliament:
Our commitment to the identity symbols will not cease. In this battle we can neither submit nor give up.
Mr. Mayor,
Ladies and gentlemen deputy,
Good afternoon.
My question today is dedicated to the prime minister of the Republic of Serbia, and it is:
• When will conditions be created for free, public and official use of the Albanian national symbol?
It's been a year since my speech on the need for free use, public and officials of our national symbol, while the Republic of Serbia is still remaining the only country in the region that, by law, unable national minorities to freely use their symbols “if they are identical to the symbols of other states”.
The extent of Serbia's failure to abide by the Albanian national symbol has also shown us the behaviour of hooligans, who have removed the Albanian flag in numerous countries in Belgrade where it was located as part of the state protocol for the visit of the prime minister of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Eddie Rama.
The hooligans are the direct perpetrators of this vandal act, but it should be noted that they are the product of discours that support and nurture anti-Albanian stereotypes, hostility and confrontation against them.
A specific disk, author of “Imaginative Albanian”, Aleksandar Pavlovovic, calls “Albanianism” based on the concept of “ballanisation<5> of Marija Todorova, who describes the discours which create stereotypes about the Balkans and politics which is organically related to this disk.
In this atmosphere, failure to endure, outright hatred and prejudice against Albanians and everything related to Albanians, adding here discrimination in fundamental rights, the lives of Albanians in the Presevo Valley, but also the Albanians living in the interior of the Republic of Serbia, is difficult.
In the atmosphere created in which war crimes are denied, criminals are cloned, whose walls are protected by police itself, and if we consider reports of international organisations that Serbia has serious impasses and returns to democracy, then perhaps we should not be surprised why an act of vandal like that of removing Albanian flags in Belgrade does nothing.
The invaders are proudly silenced.
The beautiful “this feeling of pride” meant Mesha Selimovic, “na protects from repentance”.
For many, the dilemma is fair whether this act is part of the project “Open Balkans” or of the Serbian “Bota” of Aleksandar Vulin.
Dear colleagues,
I can only mention vandalism to the Albanian state flag here, but my duty as a centre in this country is to ask why Albanians in the Presevo Valley -- respectfully those living in Serbia -- cannot freely, publicly and formally use their national symbol, a symbol that represents essentially some of their identity.
All of us, I believe, aim at membership in the European Union. The very Europe we're aiming for is known for the <x0 capabilities of integration rather than the destruction or elimination of”.
As a country which claims to be part of the EU, (even though today can rightly be asked if the Republic of Serbia really wants membership), this state must eliminate its discriminatory laws.
People are spiritually attached to their identifying symbols. People have often died for those symbols throughout history.
Therefore, no matter what the current laws, the negative political situation, which denies our symbols, I can say that we will not give up our identifying symbols.
We will patiently engage and wait when our identifying right to free use, public and official will be realized.
We believe in such a solution because this issue in the countries of the region has been conducted that weather in dialogue with minorities. Until then we will neither give up nor submit.
After all, our unstoppable commitment to identities and symbols also owes us lines of our anthem:
That God himself spoke
That are cut off from the nations,
Yes Albania will live;
To him, to fight us!
Thank you.
