The man appointed as the prime minister of Afghanistan by the Taliban, Mullah Mohammed Hassan Akhund, urged international charities not to stop their aid as the country struggles with the threat of mass hunger.
We're trying as hard as possible to solve people's problems. We work overtime in every department”, Akhund said in an audio message.
He blamed hunger, unemployment and Afghanistan's financial crisis on the US-backed government.
“Combe, you're on alert. Those left by the previous government in hiding are causing anxiety, misleading people not to trust their government”, Akhund said.
The prime minister claimed his government had hit corruption that affected what he called the world's worst “system”.
We ask all international charity organisations not to stop their help and help our exhausted nation... so people's problems can be solved”, Hassan said.
He also called on the United States to unblock about 8.8 billion euros of frozen funds.
UN aid agencies say that about half of the country is facing hunger as one of the worst famines in decades, and the economic collapse caused many Afghans to seek food. Residents are selling a lot of their assets and even their children just to put a meal on the table, reports DA, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
Akhund called urine <x0 proof from God after people rebelled against him”
The US and other countries refuse to recognise the Taliban as Afghanistan's legitimate government, ending aid reaching about 75% of the economy. The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund also put an end to loans.
Western countries have pledged to continue their economic blockade of the new rulers of Afghanistan until the Taliban establish a comprehensive government and recognise women's rights.
Akhund claims that his newly installed Islamic Emigrat has members from all over the country and the expulsion of women from work and girls from school “has saved the dignity of women”.
