Government, KOSTT have paid over 27m euros for electricity in the north
Overall government and COSTT payments for the flow spent in northern Kosovo have reached 27.7m euros.
So has the chairman of the COST Board, Jeton Mehmeti, announced during his report to the Commission for Economics, where he stressed that only for 2021 have been earmarked by COST 17.7m euros for covering energy losses in that part.
These expenses, according to Mehmet, have been increased due to consumer growth and electricity price hikes.
AAK MP Pal Lekaj stressed that the sharing of 6.7m euros in addition to those 11 million on Parliament's authorisation is disturbing.
“We are concerned about the actions being taken and paid for the irresponsible in those northern municipalities. I agree that no further payments to the north are made, because discrimination is being made for citizens whose currents are cut off”, he said.
On the other hand, Commission Chairman Ferat Shala commented on these high sums for covering losses in the north, said the Government has had to implement the assembly's recommendations on finding a solution for six months.
MP Mimoza Kusari Lila, a member of the Commission, said meeting the recommendation for finding a solution for six months is up to the government, especially the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli.
MP Armend Muja from VV said electricity payments for the north are an inherited problem.
