This came after the Guardian found out that the U.S. police department had worked with a technology company, analyzing users' data to solve various crimes.
Facebook declaratively bans creation and the use of false accounts, reports the BBC, translates Periscopi.
The goal, it says, was “to create a safe environment where people could trust and hold each other accountable”.
The LAPD has stated that the software had been particularly useful in investigating online street gang activities and helping to gather evidence of gravity and murder.
Facebook argued that spying on users and pretending to be legitimate users was against its original goal. /Periscope
