The trial against Karim Benzema is under way, allegedly blasting Valbuenan for video sex scandal.

Real Madrid striker Carim Benzema has appeared at France's court charged with co-operating in an effort to blackmail former co-player Matheu Valbuena for a scandal sex found on his phone.

He has mocked the charge against him as a <x0mascarada” and did not appear at the court in Versailles earlier.

The case dates back to June 2015, when the two footballers were in a training camp in France.

Carim Benzema has returned to the French team and scored at the Real Madrid win in Kiev on Tuesday at the Champions League.

He is on trial with four other people charged with trying to blackmail Valbuena, who told the court Wednesday that football was his life.

I knew that if that video came out, it would make things difficult with the French team”, he said.

The case of sexual scandal began in 2015 when Valbuna asked a person in Marseille, Axel Angot, to upload his cell phone to a new device.

Angos found sex material on the phone, and he and another defendant in court, Mustapha Zouaui, are later charged with trying to blackmail Valbuenan by threatening to make public videos.

Zouaui told reporters that he had distributed the videos, but he had never had an attempt to steal money.

Mathieu Valbuena has said that Jones Howis had contacted him as a sign of threat, with the latter telling the court that the player was acting as if there was nothing wrong and he had warned him of the seriousness of the case without asking for money.

When the footballer went to the police, a secret agent named Luke was given the task of negotiating in his name.

The defendants are accused of approaching a childhood friend named Carim Zenati.

Then in October 2015, Real Madrid's assailant approached his then friend in France, showing him that he had watched the videos.

Benzema said he had just tried to help his teammate get rid of the compromised video, warning him: “Ki, they're big bandits”.

He then offered to contact someone who could trust his childhood companion Zenati.

Police were now recording their calls and tapped Benzeman telling his childhood friend: “He's not taking us seriously”.

Zenati reportedly replied: “We are here to resolve this; if he does not wish, he will deal with someone else”.

Meanwhile, Valbuna is said to have told his family about her cell phones.

Bearing witness at the beginning of the trial, Matheu Valbuena said he had never considered handing over money to prevent the release of the video.

Defence lawyers have already argued that police had erred in using a secret agent and that the agent had urged the defendants to ask for money. However, French courts rejected lawyers ' objections to police methods in 2018.

The trial will continue by the end of the week, with four defendants facing charges of attempted blackmail and Karim Benzema charged with co-operation.

The maximum penalty for co-operation in the attempted blackmail is five years in prison and 75,000 euros in fines.
