The entrepreneur who had organized the flight to which Argentinian football player Emiliano Sala lost his life was convicted of carelessness for risking the safety of the plane, a Blue Piper who crashed to the ground in January 2019, killing the pilot as well.
David Henderson, 67, was convicted today by the jury of Cardiff Crown Court, and will learn only on November 12th the extent of the sentence he will suffer.
In the past, Henderson had acknowledged that he had authorized flying even though he was aware that the responsible pilot, David Ibbotson, had no experience but, above all, the authorization necessary to air transport civilians.
It was January 21, 2019, when Sala's plane suddenly disappeared from the radar.
The Argentinian striker, a son of Italian parents, was crossing the La Manche Canal to get to his new club - Cardiff. The private plane, which was founded by Nantes, never crossed the route.
The aircraft was identified on February 4th, but in the cabin it was only the player's body, and the pilot's body was never found.
