Earlier this year, Poland was ordered to suspend a controversial disciplinary chamber, but it has not yet.
This is the latest development in a bitter dispute with the European Union over changes seen as weakening the independence of Polish courts, the BBC writes, conveys Klankosova. tv
The severe sentence was immediately denounced as “quality” by Polish government spokesman Piotr Mueller.
Some fear that escalation of the situation could jeopardise Poland's membership in the European Union.
Earlier this month, Poland's Constitutional Court ruled that Polish law replaces the EU law when there is a conflict between the two, angering European leaders.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyeen has said it was a “sfide directly to the unity of European legal order”.
