Serbian writer who insulted Vucinqi: He turned Serbia into a fascist dictatorship

The Croatian news agency Index.hr has spoken with prominent Serbian writer Marko Vidojkovovic, who has been the target of a media campaign by the regime in Serbia in recent days that has caused a wave of online threats against him. All of this is happening because, according to Vuciqi, Vidojkovovic, who has always been critical in his online podst, commented last week the Serbian president's statement on media freedom in RTS with the words: “O, this is not RTS!”.

The regime's media, led by Informer and Pink TV, orchestrated a campaign on Vidojkoviki, declaring him an enemy of the state, as he insulted the Serbian president.

Marko Vidojkov is one of the most famous contemporary Serbian writers. Born in 1975 in Belgrade, a lawyer with education, journalist, editor and professional writer, Vidojkovik is author of several bestsellers, from “Kandquera” to the last success of the novel “bra”, a satirical attack on the regime of Aleksandar Vuciki.

Index.hr spoke to Vidojkovchi while he is in what he calls the <x0 house arrest”, given that, with the advice of Reporters Without Borders and other professional associations, he has not been out for several days, as the media of the Vucitic regime conduct a daily campaign against him. It constantly receives online threats from supporters of the Vuciki regime.

I sure don't feel safe. I feel my life is in danger for me and my colleague Nenad Kulači. Ex-radicals and their gang should not be underestimated, they have always been prone to violence. There are people who, if they met me on the street, who knows what they'd do,<x1 just explain Vidojkov.

He showed why he reviled Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq.

I was actually impressed by the new Volin police bill, which defines police as a <x1horgan trigger” and prevents citizens from filming the police and everything else. It was a fascist bill, and I was angry at it, and I wanted to explain clearly that it would not pass. But the previous part that we commented on the podcast was Vuciki's clip in which he claimed RTS sided with the opposition, so I insulted it. I admit I was nervous that day, but I didn't expect this to happen”, Vidojkovic says.

He also showed what it is like to live in Serbia today.

“Vukiqi turned Serbia into a fascist dictatorship, in which dissidents are persecuted. Politicians can swear out in European democracies, the European Court of Human Rights ruled. Serbia under Vucinjqi is an anti-European state, an undemocratic state”, Vidojkovic added, stressing that the share of citizens who do not support Vucinqi is deeply concerned about their future.

When it comes to the Serbian “world”, Vidojkovic thinks this story is not a real threat to Croatia, but mentions Kosovo.

It is primarily directed to BiH, Montenegro and northern Kosovo, so I understood the Serbian “world”. However, Vuciq eventually leads a nationalist campaign against Croatia for propagandistic purposes, but also against Montenegro, Kosovo, etc. He is performing society's fascism in Serbia. He created an unhealthy atmosphere. We live in his evil imagination”, Vidojkovic says.

“The Serbian world is a crazy and dangerous idea”

“The Serbian world is a crazy and dangerous idea. It's like what Milosevic did and we broke his teeth with. Everyone normally realizes that this leads to the destabilisation of the region, and I think the most dangerous situation is in BiH”, he added. He emphasises that those in Serbia who stay for a democratic and European Serbia are more afraid of escalation of the conflict, because this could enable the regime to kill their freedoms even more.

Vidojkovovic has reason to worry about the situation within Serbia because prior to this campaign, he was threatened by another SNS official, Aleksandar Sapic, a former deputy who openly sided with Vucinqi.

“People in Serbia are crazy”

It has always been dangerous to be a journalist in Serbia. Milosevic's regime killed editor Slavko Curuvija, and a house of a local journalist from Grocka near Belgrade was burned a couple of years ago. Serbia has fallen above all scales of international media freedom since Vuciqi came to power.

Vidojkovic recalls that Serbia is governed by a kind of media dictatorship and that there are very few free opposition media. For years now, Vuciq controls all national frequency televisions, people are crazy”, says Vidojkovic.

In the end, Index.hr asked Vidojkovchi who he would compare Vucinqi with, given that he was compared to Milosevic.

“Little Hitler”, he said.
