Kosovo Olympic Committee President Ismet Krasniqi, in an interview for Kosova Preis, says obstacles to Kosovo boxers for him have been a recurring “film” that occurred in 2018 with the Federation of Karate.
Krasniqi has clarified that boxers would not appear without state uniform, but the request not to dress on the road with the idea that it would not be accepted on Kosovo's part and that the Kosovo Box Federation would therefore give up the turnout by leaving the Kosovo side guilty was a failed maneuver.
For me personally, it was a repeat film... I have had this case in 2018 with the Federation of Karate, and there has been the same procedure of the Serbian state, Serbian politics, as has happened to karate and boxing... I want to explain a problem that many people have commented why Kosovo's team goes without uniform there, this has never been true, but maybe this has been the goal of Serbian politics that we will not go without uniforms on the way to Serbia and maybe we will resign from going to Belgrade, but we didn't do it and we left that way but still stopped us”, Krasniqi said.
Serbia's move, Krasniqi, has called it a black spot for world sports and the International Olympic Committee. The one for Kosovo Press has said they expect the AIBA and the International Olympic Committee to take very large penal measures for Serbia.
I believe that, in this case, only in Serbia, politics has won the event with sports, and it's a very bad thing for the world sport, even the International Olympic Committee, which has condemned this act. As you know after 2018 with the Federation of Karate where we had problems, the failure of the Federation of Karate in Novisad to the European Championship, since then Serbia, has been banned by the World Federation from maintaining any Balkan, European or global activity in Serbia until the Kosovo statute problem is resolved with Serbia. I believe this is a huge achievement and I believe that very soon both the AIBA and the International Olympic Committee will take enormous measures”, Krasniqi stressed.
Krasniqi has also added that in co-operation the International Olympic Committee is working for Serbia to lose all the rights of organisation of major sports events.
I believe that the only expert that may affect, not say the sentence, but, for resolving this final problem with Serbia, is the Kosovo Olympic Committee in contact with the International Olympic Committee. We will be key acts that will try and believe that we will solve this problem once and for all, and I believe that in this case Serbia will be before the act committed because this state will gradually lose all the rights of organisation of activities such as the European or world championship”, Krasniqi added.
Kosovo's non-participation at the World Boxing Championship sparked the response of all institutions in the country, while it was warned that it could be exercised both in Brussels and under meetings between two states. The European Union itself demanded that the Kosovo Box Federation be treated equally as all other federations.
