On the same day as the murder of one of Kenya's finest athletes, Agnes Tyrop, another athlete was found dead in the African country of Kirinyagas.
Kerugoya police arrested a young man on charges of killing his girlfriend, Edith Muthon, 27, on Tuesday evening.
Kennedy Nyamu was charged with killing the girl for hitting her head after a family disagreement.
According to Muthon's sister, Jane Niawira Kingu, Edith was attacked after taking her boyfriend's phone. She and her boyfriend have been together for three years.
Both argued over Nyamut's phone on the night of the assassination,” stressed Nyawiira.
Muthon was famous for his good times at local marathons.
It had also worked as a community scout for Kenya's Wild Animal Service (KWS) in the Embu district.
The marathoner was rushed to the hospital, but she lost her life a few moments later.
