Greece's liaison office in Pristina has clarified that only Kosovo karate people who have not had visas have not been allowed to enter Greece to participate in the Mediterranean Championship of Karate, until those who have been given visas have been prevented.
“Referring to several media reports, Greece's Interconnecting Office in Pristina states that yesterday a team of Kosovar karateers has entered Greece via the road border with northern Macedonia in order to take a flight towards Cyprus to participate in the 28th Karate Mediterranean Championship held in Limassssol. However, some athletes from the same group have been barred from entering Greece because they had (and had not applied) for the Greek visa/ Schengen”, reports this media office's announcement.
This office says “of all karateers who had, or of course, need, for visas Schengen has entered Greece without a problem”, Klankosova.tv reports.
“We strongly believe that international sports events, in a positive sports spirit, are a good opportunity to unite people in our region and around the world. Many Kosovo athletes from various sports have been welcomed to Greece at many sports events”.
Meanwhile, the coach of Kosovo's karate team, Alban Beqiri, has said yesterday about Klan Kosovo that Greece's karate team, which were headed towards Greece, were equipped with visas in Belgrade, but were not allowed to enter Greece via the border with Northern Macedonia.
He has also said that only a small number of 35 people with Schengen visas have been allowed to enter Greece, until it explains that he and the karate team's centre have gone to Greece the previous day and the same had also encountered problems at the border with Northern Macedonia.
