Social media services Facebook, MorningApp and Instagram are restarting and operating after a break that lasted nearly six hours, Facebook says.
This platform blamed an internal technical issue, which not only touched Facebook services but also reportedly the employees' work permits and emails broadcast the clan.
Services were suspended from about 4: 00 p.m. to about 10: 00 p.m. on Monday.
But the company said there was no “evidence that user data had been compromised”.
Sheera Frankel, a New York Times technology reporter, told the Today program that the reason it took so long to fix it was because <x0 people trying to figure out what this problem was couldn't even physically enter the building” to work out what had gone wrong.
In a statement, Facebook said the wrong configuration change affected the company's internal tools and systems, which complicated efforts to solve the problem.
The doctor, who tracks the disruptions, said there were about 10.6 million reports of problems worldwide. However, the actual number of people affected is much higher: more than 3.5 billion people use Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and Chezzapp.
According to Fortune's business website, this also cost Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg about $6 billion (U.S.) at one point as the shares fell.
Zuckerberg has apologized to those affected by the interruption.
Several people also reported problems using the Facebook platform Oculus, and applications seeking Facebook entry were affected, including Pokemon Go.
A break of this scale for such a long time is rare. A 2019 break left Facebook and its other apps largely elusive worldwide for more than 14 hours.
Several other technology companies, including Reddit and Titter, mocked the difficulties of the social media giant, reports the BBC, broadcast Klankosova. tv
The division comes one day after an interview with a former Facebook employee who discovered documents regarding the company.
Frances Haugen told CBS on Sunday that the company had given priority to “achievement on security”.
On Tuesday, it will testify before a Senate subcommittee in a session titled “Child Protection Online”, regarding the company's research into the effect of the Institute on the mental health of new users.
Many interruptions are resolved quite quickly. They are also often located, with some people unable to open a website that can be seen in another country.
However, this break was global and affected all the numerous Facebook spin-offs.
The length of time outside the network is also unusual. There were reports of “kaos” at Facebook headquarters, while the technicians tried to fix the problem. /Klankosova.
