The chance for Golden Ball, Lewandowski: My Statistics Speak for Myself

Poland's representative Lewandowski is seen as one of the two main favourites along with Lionel Messin for the prestigious individual award for footballers.

Everyone has seen what I've done and what I keep doing. Can I still win this prestigious trophy? My results can answer that question, because the last two years have been maximum not only for me, but for every player in football history”.

The Polish attacker has never stopped marking and subsequently dreamed of that price, as shown in a long interview for “Marcha”. One of the few trophies he misses, on the individual level:

I have a chance to win the Golden Ball. I've shown that it doesn't matter where you come from, no matter how hard you work. I've shown that, despite a complicated career start, you can succeed”.

He is 33 and still has a chance to win the prize. Lewandowski is on the list of 30 candidates for this award edition. He enjoys the present, but for some time he has begun to think about the future:

I started to prepare for football after I pulled out at age 27. Right now I don't know if I'm gonna be a coach or not, for now I don't want to be, but maybe 2, 3 years after retirement, I'm gonna miss football”

Maybe, who knows, from many trainers who led him to success in his career, he'll get something from Pep Guardiola:

He taught me to watch football from a different perspective. After my experience with Guardilla, I think of football differently, because I see football from a different perspective. I can already see who made a mistake, who could have done better, and how you can improve. I spoke to Pep, he said: I can't help you be a better attacker, because you're already very good, but I can help the team bring the ball to the area and there you know what to do”.
