Borrell in his address has in the European Parliament thanked American emissar Gabriel Escobar for his role in resolving the crisis in northern Kosovo.
The EU High Representative has further stressed that co-operation with the US is very good.
In the Western Balkans, I have to say that our collaboration with the United States is much better. For the recent crisis between Kosovo and Serbia, which has been resolved thanks to the good work of our special envoy, Miroslav Lajcak I have to say that our co-operation with the United States envoy has been very positive”, Borrell said, writes Telegrafi.
He has added that they will continue to co-operate and partner with the US in key areas of foreign policy and security.
However, Borrell said that despite the strong link the EU has with the US, it should focus on their autonomy as well.
Our relation to the United States is, of course, the strongest pillar of our freedom and prosperity. We must continue to build it, but at the same time, we must continue to build our autonomy, because our interests will not always match exactly”, he added.
